NEW VIDEO BLOG !!

September 2008
I've been writing a load of new songs over the past few months and have showcased some of them to live audiences over the last two weeks including the head of BMI in London , Brandon Bakshi, who exclaimed that at least one of them is a hit !
To view a short video blog please go the youtube page to see latest video blog from BMI.

Thanks Tim

The London Show at Purple Turtle went really well .
We will be uploading a video of the performance soon , plus providing links to a post show interview with Rowland from DarkCompass and photos from the night.
please visit the myspace page for more details.

I am the main creative force behind this music, although I work closely with several musicians in UK and USA to create the complete sound.
Civilized Tears is not exactly a Solo project nor is it a Band- It is somewhere in between!
Let me explain: I am the singer / songwriter / conceiver of the music.
I work with the best musicians/producers I can find and then collaborate with them to form the vision both live and in the studio.

This is my story so far :

I have done every job conceivable in order to survive and feed my passion for music and lyrics.

I've painted houses, acted in commercials, been photographed nude for worldwide publications , cleaned toilets , canvassed for political organizations , played in the New York subways, been a courier, been arrested for spying , been protected by the Mafia , been a waiter , a bartender , a cook and gardener, worked in clothes stores, sold paintings, and sold blood , but I've never sold my soul!

I've had lunch with Mussolini's grand daughter, been stood up by Phil Spector, been abducted by an Italian Countess, been stranded on a desert island, survived two major earthquakes, been the first white man to meet the Sultan of Brunei's witch doctor and have driven through the streets of L.A. under police escort.

I live on the emotional fringes of life and compose songs that write themselves out of the true experiences that I have lived.

I find inspiration to write from my ongoing struggles to find clarity in a paradoxical world and believe music is the alchemist that can change pain and suffering into beauty and heal the scars that we hide within our souls.

I was told about Sellaband by a producer friend of mine who is currently producing an album for one of the artists on this site who raised the $50,000 target amount.
It gave me great encouragement to sign up straight away and start the ball rolling.
I hope you will join me in this exciting journey to help bring CIVILIZED TEARS music to a world wide audience and share in the rewards that sellaband.com offers !

Thank you, Tim

May 22nd.

Chapter 9 just put up the forum question how do we artists write songs:

I thought I'd share this as a blog :

For me , writing is either a desperate need or a joyful renunciation.

When the creativity is sincere (and I have learned to wait for these moments patiently) the guitar in my hands seems to speak without trying...my heart already knows the chords.
The words initially come from unconcious, then hopefully they beging to make sense.
They aways tell an honest story...sometimes one I'd rather not tell you in person. ' open heart surgery' - it allows everyone to really see the crap that's been building up inside.
Then editting must follow and that can take months to really knit together everything so that it moves effortlessly and flows.

Thanks for allowing me to share this with you.

Tim (CT)

May 20th,

Great to see CT back in the charts again ! ! !
Thank you to everyone who is pulling and pushing for the cause.
I can't wait to get back into the studio and record the new album with SAB.

thank you , Tim

Wow , just realised that I haven't written a blog since January!

So here we go, it might be a bit heavy so we'll start off light.

1-
The weather is fantastic at last here in England!
2-
After the last few months away from the world,(in my chamber of unwellness) I have had a lot to consider and think about.
There is so much creative energy boiling inside and so many words to express how I see the world through my new eyes.
3-
And perhaps the most important issue of all is that
I now realise that honesty is the most important thing.
Honesty with myself about who I am and how I truly perceive the world.
Only through this can I travel the chaos of life free from baggage and blame.
4-
This can only mean one thing---- loads more new songs in the works:)

Thank you , Tim

Jan 15th

I have just uploaded the song ' Streamline' written in New York.
It was written during a particularly challenging phase of my time there.
The track is my attempt at self -therapy. Sometimes we have the all answers we ever needed.

Jan 13th
I've just uploaded a remix of my profile song ' Blue Sunrise'.
It was remixed and radically changed by Madd Wikkidd from New Orleans.
I thought it might be nice to illustrate how drastically a song can change when interpreted by different musicians.
This song would NOT appear on my album, but could feature on a remix album.
Please let me know your thoughts as I might upload other remixes from time to time to keep things interesting on my page:)

If you would like to know more about Madd Wikkidd then please visit :http://profile.myspace.com/461 10612

many thanks , Tim

Jan 10th

There was a low pressure weather front parked over Seattle, dumping bucket -fulls of rain and blowing a bone numbing wind from Alaska.

The roads were covered in a layer of murky water and gasoline as we stood shivering under an exposed bus stop in Lake City trying to avoid the splash back of the vehicles on the highway.

We'd only been in the city for about two months and were waiting to catch a bus across town to our apartment in Phinney Ridge.

The evening was closing in when the number 75 arrived. It was 20 minutes late.

We got on and sat towards the back of the half empty bus , tired but relieved.

Condensation trickled down the steamy windows as I wiped the cold glass to get a better view of our surroundings.

We hugged each other , glad to be on our way home to our new flat when I suddenly noticed a man few seats down.

He seemed be talking to himself as he ran dirty looking hands through his long dirty blond hair . His eyes glazed and unfocussed stared out of the window, a stained lumberjack coat heaved up around his unshaven chin.

Then he reached down and grabbed a duffle bag from between his legs and rummaged around before pulling out a black gun from inside.

At first he just kind of ran his fingers across it and then he polished it with a sleeve.

He pushed the barrel against the window and started aiming it at the cars passing by.

Everyone else on the bus was in front of him except for us.

They were oblivious to the fact that a madman was sitting a few feet behind their heads waving a weapon about.

I was just praying that he wouldn't look over towards us.

He turned around and grinned a toothless smile as if reading my mind!

He started pressing an imaginary trigger making a ' firing ' sound with his mouth.

to be continued

Jan 9th
well after a week on SAB, we broke the 2k barrier earlier today and now marching on towards 3 K.
It is very positive start , thanks to all of you for supporting civilized tears!

Tim

Jan, 8th:
hey it's the King's birthday!
yes David Bowie was born today about 60 years ago..
Oh yes and Elvis shares the same birthday :)

Not just about the money

Even though the concept of sharing the wealth is so appealing, I also feel it important to state that ,for me, the most important aspect of Sellaband is the fact that the public chooses what they like and what they want to rise to the top.

We are no longer dictated to by invisible music business machines.

We have become the new machine. A machine with a soul and spirit not just driven by profit , but perhaps more by what moves, shapes and reflects us!

At last the public has the power and the choice to breathe life into embryonic music .

I used to play in the subways of New York and underground clubs all over the USA and UK.

My only corridor to the public was through these avenues.

Now the world has blown wide open and I am here to watch and be part of it !

Fantastic !!!

part 1:

I was once told that anyone can say they like your music...but when someone puts their money where their mouth is then you know that they are serious! So...
Thank you to those people who have shown their belief and put their money where their mouth is.

Tim has an awesome strong voice that really gets to me. His music never fails to please my ears and soul, as what he writes can be felt. You know it is heartfelt music that is true words coming from within his creative soul. It's thought grabbing lyrics at it's best and music that you can truly appreciate to the fullest. The broad overall talents speaks volume with this music.

THE QUALITY OF THIS MUSIC IS JUST GREAT AND TO THE T in my honest opinion!

"Adrenaline" is a strong song which is just thumping good. It gave me an adrenaline rush listening to it.

GOOD LUCK TIM!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Verdict: 10/10

This guy has had lunch with Mussolini's grand daughter, been stood up by Phil Spector, been abducted by an Italian Countess, been stranded on a desert island, survived two major earthquakes, been the first white man to meet the Sultan of Brunei's witch doctor and have driven through the streets of L.A. under police escort.

But most spectacular of all: the one and only JayDoubleYou is among his believers!

Alternative Rock is usually a tag put upon a band pedalling the same, generic music in the style- something common that needs a selling point. However, Civilized Tears is an exception to the rule, well and truly.

Tim himself is a man who will evidently not settle for second best- as we see through each of his pristine and well produced tracks.

From the stunning Black Rain to the gorgeous Blue Sunrise- an immense set of lyrics accompanied by a rocking set of beats ensures Civilized Tears goes far in the music world.

It seems he is flawless, as he takes new tracks, produces, perfects and completes them- before proving to us all how devoted he is to his music, and how professionally his outcomes are.

A reliable, and greatly talented member of the community- Tim and Civilized Tears will take the 50K very soon, and soon the world.
