---WHAT IS SELLABAND ALL ABOUT?---
My music is the result of the time Ben Folds met up with Counting Crows and Tom McRae and they decided that, actually, life wasn't that bad after all.
I started recording music at the age of 10, and my music trail wandered from Michael Jackson, via Blur and the Britpop era, to where it now covers everything between Gemma Hayes and Porcupine Tree.
In 2003 I won a national songwriting competition sponsored by Yamaha, with the song “Green Girl Train Ride”, judged by, among others, Chris Martin and Harvey Goldsmith.
My last complete album, “Charlotte’s Diary” was recorded, mixed and produced at home, so I am hoping that you Believers will help me realise my dream of recording professionally.
I’m currently based in Manchester, UK, where I can be found playing my acoustic guitar in various pubs and clubs. I also run a music night at the Thirsty Scholar, see my Myspace for details.

The subject of artist names has cropped up on the forum, and it prompted me to clarify my position. I have been asked several times "what's with the Alex/Joe thing?", and it's a fair question. I am Joseph Alexander Marczak, so I am Alex, and I am Joe. I have been tinkering with the artist name to improve my search potential on the internet, because I am known in equal measure by both names (essentially depending on whether its a family or friend connection). I decided that my family would be more likely to invest if my "given name" was on here, whilst you will find that my myspace page, geared less to family and more to friends, is more Alex-centric.
Rest assured though that I will make a decision about my artist name properly, long before I reach 50k, and also rest assured that I will stick with it. And of course you can be sure that both Alex and Joe appear on every track.
And I hope you Believers are enjoying your gift.

Following a blinding idea on the Forum, I advise you all to follow aje1000's example.
Step 1. Take a plain template in Word, paste in the Sellaband logo
Step 2. underneath write the following: "Do you want to Believe in new music? Do you want to help change the rules of the music business? Go to www.sellaband.com/jamarczak to find out more."
Step 3. Every time you receive junk mail with a franked return address, print off a leaflet as per above, stick it in and send it back.
All that free postage shouldn't be wasted surely?

400 new friends sounds good but what sound GREAT!!! is all the good response you are getting.

I am curious (had to read my blog too hmm) going for the local sponsorship as in getting local venue, record store, etc to sponsor you or trying the little league sponsorship idea I wrote about???
Regarding the 2 friends a day post a few thoughts to add to that are
1 look for people who leave comments on other bands profiles that sound similar to your music
2 Use the browse function to find people with similar interests to yours or any band members doesn't have to be music. Key here is build a connection then turn into a fan and of course move them into a believer. Slow and easy
well I am glad you found my writings and thoughts of use your comment will probaly make it into a future post too, it was good to hear.
